Live Election Tool
For the 2024 Belgian elections, I designed the RTBF Live Election Tool, a web platform allowing citizens to follow real-time results across six parliaments.
The challenge was to turn a vast amount of complex electoral data into a simple, accessible, and responsive experience for millions of users following one of the busiest editorial nights of the year.
Collaborating closely with journalists, UX designers and developers, I focused on designing an experience that balanced accuracy, speed, and readability — helping RTBF deliver one of its most significant editorial moments of the year to millions of users.
UI Design
One key challenge when working with broadcast teams is timing. While on-air graphics are often produced at the last minute, web and app development requires assets to be ready well in advance to avoid production bottlenecks. Balancing these two rhythms meant anticipating design needs early while staying flexible for last-minute editorial updates.

UX Flow
The mobile navigation was designed for clarity and speed, allowing users to move effortlessly between European, national and regional results. Each screen focuses on essential data, supported by clear hierarchy, accessible colour use, and responsive layouts — ensuring a smooth experience even during peak traffic moments.

Voix de préférence
Another key challenge was handling “voix de préférence” (individual candidate votes). Initially, it was designed so users could only browse candidates within a specific region or parliament. I redesigned the system to work across all parliaments and regions, allowing users to find any candidate instantly — a more intuitive and inclusive approach that matched real search behaviour.
